Prayer of Contrition

We all have sorrow, need forgiveness and healing - Psalm 51 is a perfect prayer for the forgiveness of sin. In the psalm , the speaker asks for more than forgiveness though - he says “teach me, fill with your joy, create in me a clean heart, give me back the joy of Your salvation.” Our Lord had an eye for sinners, like Peter, Paul , St. Augustine - but He called them to Himself and they became part of the foundation of Christianity.
